CLEVELAND (WJW) — Police are searching for four suspects after a Cleveland Police detective was shot Tuesday night and two other officers were hurt on their way to help.

Police say the on-duty officer was shot at the 2800 block of Central Avenue while pursuing what was suspected to be a stolen Kia.Where cars are most likely to be stolen in Cleveland: I-Team

According to Police Chief Wayne Drummond, two detectives discovered the vehicle around 6:20 p.m. When they approached the car, Drummond says four suspects got out of the vehicle and started to run.

“Both officers gave a chase. As the suspects were running, one of them dropped a weapon. The officer actually pulled up, picked up the weapon and put it in the detective car,” explained Chief Drummond.

As the officer got out of the detective car, one of the suspects in a bright orange jacket fired, what police believe were four shots at him, said Drummond.Cleveland crash victim says she waited 40 minutes for police after hit-and-run

“The detective was struck twice. Once in the arm and once in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he is doing really well. I talked to him, but still he was struck,” said Drummond.

Another officer rendered aid right away with a tourniquet.

2 state police officers recovering after Detroit shooting

DETROIT (AP) — A state police sergeant shot during an incident in Detroit has been released from a hospital while another wounded officer was facing surgery, authorities said Saturday. The injuries were not considered life-threatening. The officers were shot Friday while assisting a Detroit team that pursues fugitives, Chief James White said.

DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS) — Sources tell CBS News Philadelphia that a Deptford Police officer is now out of surgery after being shot Friday afternoon in Deptford Township, Gloucester County, and rushed to the hospital by fellow officers.

Neighbors say they are praying for the officer.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office confirmed one Deptford police officer was shot and another individual was shot. That second individual, who sources said is suspected of shooting the officer, died on Doman Avenue.

Sources said the officer was in critical but stable condition at Cooper University Hospital. Gloucester Township police said the same in a Facebook post.

The Attorney General’s Office says the officer was shot around 12:45 p.m. We’re told there was some sort of confrontation but investigators are not saying exactly what led to this shooting.

A police officer and a suspect were both killed in a shooting on Detroit’s west side Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. local time after officers responded to a report of “shots fired,” according to the Detroit Police Department.

The officer was struck by gunfire and rushed to a hospital, where he died. Detroit Police Chief James White said in a briefing that the fallen officer, whose name was not released, was a five-year veteran whose own father had also served in the department.
