(Reuters) -A gunman opened fire on two television journalists reporting on a murder near Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, killing one and wounding the other before fatally shooting a 9-year-old girl and wounding her mother in a nearby home, authorities said.

A suspect identified as Keith Melvin Moses, 19, was arrested shortly after the assaults on the TV news team and the mother and daughter, about a block away from each other, in the Orlando suburb of Pine Hills, said Orange County Sheriff John Mina

Moses was detained as a suspect in both those attacks and was formally charged in the killing hours earlier of a woman in her 20s, a shooting that the two journalists were covering when they came under fire, Mina said.

The sheriff described the two journalists as a reporter and a photographer for central Florida cable TV outlet Spectrum News 13, which is owned by Charter Communications.

None of victims was identified.

Mina said the suspect was armed with a pistol when taken into custody and has a lengthy criminal record that included arrests on charges of firearms offenses aggravated battery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand theft.

Mina said no motive had been determined for any of Wednesday’s shootings, but he said Moses was believed to have been an acquaintance of the first victim, who was shot while sitting in a car with the suspected gunman and another person.

At least seven people were shot and killed with one critically injured in shootings on Monday at two locations in the small California coastal community of Half Moon Bay, according to reports.

The shootings are considered to be linked and mark the state’s third mass shooting in a week.

Police arrest Half Moon Bay shooting suspect

Suspect Zhao, 67, was taken into custody two hours after the shootings, according to a CNN report.

Independent journalist Joshua Rodriguez shared a clip of his arrest to his Twitter page on Monday evening.

He captioned the video: “Hours ago California had multiple active shootings causing the whole city Half Moon Bay to go on locked down.

“The suspect has been arrested. 67-year-old Zhao Chunli is accused of murdering 7 people at Mushroom Farm and at a green house.”

FATAL SHOOTOUT: NJ Gunman Fires Point-Blank At Police, Shot Dead In Exchange

Dramatic footage shows a fully-armed man shooting point-blank at West New York police, then being shot dead himself.

The incident is captured in a compilation of police bodycam footage and home surveillance video released late Tuesday, Sept. 6, by Acting New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.

Several uniformed officers responding to a domestic dispute at the 59th Street home of Kevin Colindres, 32, of West New York on June 3, 2022 had their body cameras activated, Platkin said.

Home security cameras in the neighborhood were working, as well.

Bodycam footage video recorded through the front-door window shows Colindres entering the vestibule in a t-shirt and shorts with both hands behind his back.

Suddenly he raises his arms, revealing a gun in each hand. He fires, wounding one of the officers.

Police quickly take up positions.

About 15 minutes later, the heavily-tattooed Colindres emerges from the front door of a neighboring home. He’s barefoot and wearing the t-shirt as a head scarf.

Colindres points both guns at police from the front steps, then turns and runs down the sidewalk.

An officer shoots and fatally wounds him.

Two guns fall from his hands as Colindres hits the pavement. Police find him carrying a third firearm.

The officers and EMS responders render aid before Colindres is taken to Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen.

He was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m., less than 45 minutes from the time of the initial call, said Platkin.

Spate of violence across US mars Labor Day weekend

At least nine mass shootings have taken place nationwide so far during Labor Day weekend, leaving at least 10 people dead, according to Gun Violence Archive.

The mass shootings, which the organization defines as incidents in which four or more people were shot or killed, not including the shooter, took place in cities including Norfolk, Va., Charleston, S.C., and Chicago, among others.

The deadliest shooting of the weekend so far, according to the group, took place in Saint Paul, Minn., where three people died and two others were injured on Sunday in the city’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood.
