UPDATED with amended toll: Nineteen second- to fourth-grade students and at least two adults, one of whom was a teacher, were killed in a mass shooting at an elementary school west of San Antonio today, the Associated Press reported late tonight.
The outlet also reported that federal law enforcement officials expect the death toll to rise. There are unconfirmed reports of multiple injuries.
Gov. Greg Abbott had said earlier that 14 children and one teacher were killed in the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade. The 18-year-old gunman was shot dead by officers and acted alone, Abbott said.

Why do we allow them to protect these leftwing domestic terrorists?
They should not be protesting at the homes of the Justices….but they are allowed
Violent leftwing terrorists are arrested for violent crimes against citizens and police- yet they receive little if any jail time.

Washington, DC – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warned law enforcement partners this month about threats to burn down or storm the U.S. Supreme Court and to murder the judges and their clerks, members of Congress, and protesters in response to a leaked draft of an opinion that indicated the justices were planning to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The DHS memo sent on May 13 warned the federal agency’s partners that “domestic violence extremists and criminal actors have adopted narratives surrounding abortion rights to encourage violence, likely increasing the threat to government, religious, and reproductive healthcare personnel and facilities and ideological opponents,” Axios reported.

The memo predicted the threats – which also targeted clergy and health care providers – “are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling.”
“Some racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists’ embrace of pro-life narratives may be linked to the perception of wanting to ‘save white children’ and ‘fight white genocide,’” the memo read.
Although abortion issue-related violence has historically come from the pro-life extremist side, DHS warned law enforcement in the memo that this time, the threats were coming from both sides, Axios reported.
“We assess that the broader ideological spectrum of potential DVEs (domestic violent extremists) linked to recent abortion-related threats likely seek to target a range of individuals and entities,” the memo read, according to CNN.
“Historically, violent acts related to this issue were primarily committed by abortion-related violent extremists that opposed abortion rights. Going forward, grievances related to restricting abortion access could fuel violence by pro-choice abortion-related violent extremists and other DVEs,” DHS wrote.
DHS offered an example of a social media administrator who on May 7 encouraged other users to engage in “unrelenting violence” as an alternative to counter-protest, according to CNN.
But law enforcement shouldn’t be too aggressive in trying to do anything about these extremists, according to the memo.
“The mere advocacy of political or social positions, political activism, use of strong rhetoric, or generalized philosophic embrace of violent tactics does not constitute domestic violent extremism or illegal activity and is constitutionally protected,” DHS reminded its law enforcement partners.
DHS told Axios the agency was committed to protecting free speech and other civil rights and civil liberties.

Charges against a 16-year-old rapper accused of shooting a New York police officer earlier this year have been dropped, according to officials.
The New York City Law Department said in a statement Friday that Camrin Williams, 16, “cannot be prosecuted” but failed to elaborate.
Williams, who goes by the stage name C Blu, was facing charges after he allegedly shot NYPD Officer Kaseem Pennant in the leg in January.
The teenager allegedly accidentally shot Pennant after the two tussled, and Williams attempted to flee. The gun discharged and struck Williams in the groin before exiting his thigh and hitting the officer.
Cops were responding to a disorderly crowd when Williams approached a white vehicle and put his hands in his pockets, police said, according to the New York Post. Police asked the teenager to show his hands, but he refused, leading to the tussle.
The teenager was already on probation for gun possession when the shooting occurred. The gun possession case was picked up in May 2020, when Williams was just 14.
The teenager posted a $250,000 bond in late January using money from a record label he had signed with Interscope Records a few months earlier.
Palmyra, IN – A Ramsey County volunteer firefighter was murdered Monday night while stopping to help a Palmyra police officer who was out with a stranded motorist, according to investigators.
PPD Reserve Officer Zachary Holly responded to the scene and made contact with the driver, 31-year-old Justin Moore, WLKY reported.
Shortly thereafter, off-duty Harris County Volunteer Firefighter Jacob McClanahan, 24, and one of his coworkers stopped to help assist Officer Holly with traffic control, Harrison County Prosecutor Otto Schalk said during a press conference on Wednesday.
Officer Holly and Moore determined the vehicle was out of gas and eventually decided to call a tow truck, Schalk said.
The officer asked Moore if he had any weapons in his vehicle, and he replied he only had a knife on his person, according to the prosecutor.
Officer Holly then asked Moore to go stash the knife in the vehicle, WLKY reported.
But when Moore reached into his car, he came out with a shotgun and opened fire on the officer, Schalk said.
The round missed Officer Holly, who quickly tried to retreat along with McClanahan, WLKY reported.
Schalk said Moore fired again, hitting and killing the volunteer firefighter.
Officer Holly returned fire and struck Moore, who ultimately died at the scene, WLKY reported.
