A hit-and-run accident that happened outside of Jefferey Pub in Chicago early on Sunday morning resulted in the deaths of three men and one in critical condition, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The officer has been identified as Danny Golden. His 32nd birthday is Monday. He was shot in the back and is now paralyzed from the waist down and recovering at Christ Hospital.
“He’s a cop’s cop. He’s been on the police force for six years, going on seven. He’s an Army veteran,” said Liam Hopkins, friend.
The incident began with an altercation between two groups in a bar early Saturday morning in Beverly. It spilled out on Western Avenue near Aldermen Matt O’Sheas office.
The alderman said Golden, who was off-duty, tried to break up the altercation. O’Shea said during the fight, Golden announced he was a Chicago police officer. Bullets then rang out. A neighbor’s Ring camera caught the gunshots.
“I believe he saved lives that night getting people away as this individual was spraying the crowd with gun fire… machine gun,” O’Shea said.
“All he’s done his whole life was selflessly give to others and care for others,” Hopkins said.
Friends, family and the community are now rallying around Golden.
“He’s got a group of us, an army, behind him,” Hopkins said.
Golden’s fiancee said it was a miracle he survived, especially after doctors told her the bullet lodged between his lungs and heart missed his valve one 1 millimeter. She said he is in good spirits as he recovers.

Chicago, IL – A Chicago police officer who fatally shot an armed suspect during a foot pursuit in 2021 will not face criminal charges, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced on Tuesday.
Foxx said an outside agency investigated the incident and that she subsequently determined there was insufficient evidence to charge Chicago Police Officer Evan Solano in connection with the March 31, 2021 shooting death of 22-year-old Anthony Alvarez, FOX News reported.
“This is a somber announcement,” Foxx said of her decision. “There are no winners in this situation.”

The cop repeatedly tells the armed perp to drop the gun. At some point the officer is in fear for his life and fires (remember gun gun gun). They render first aid to try and stop bleeding, including a tourniquet. And the Marxist defund the police State Attorney has a problem with this?????

Stoneham, MA – Massachusetts State Police (MSP) Trooper Tamar Bucci died in the line of duty Thursday night after a tanker truck crashed into her patrol vehicle as she was trying to help a disabled motorist.
The 34-year-old trooper was attempting to pull onto the shoulder of northbound Interstate 93 near exit 27 just before midnight on March 3 when a tanker truck filled with approximately 10,000 gallons of gasoline crashed into her patrol vehicle, MSP Colonel Christopher Mason said, according to WCVB.
Trooper Bucci had the blue lights of her patrol car activated and was trying to assist a disabled motorist when she was hit.
The tanker truck’s momentum shoved her cruiser off the roadway, Col. Mason said.
Two Good Samaritans jumped out of their vehicles to help pull the gravely-injured trooper from her mangled patrol vehicle.
A Stoneham police officer then performed CPR prior to Trooper Bucci being rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, WCVB reported.
The female driver of the disabled vehicle was transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
“I got shot in the head, I got shot in the head,” one of the wounded officers radioed.
Two Chicago police officers were shot early Friday on the West Side, according to authorities said.
One of the officers was grazed in the face and the other wounded in the leg, police said. They went to Mount Sinai Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Original Maxwell Street hot dog stand in the 3800 block of West Harrison Street. A man waiting to be served dropped his gun in front of the officers, picked it up and started firing at them, according to Police Supt. David Brown.
“I got shot in the head, I got shot in the head,” one of the wounded officers radioed. “Dropped an extended clip right in front of me, picked it up, shot me, graze wound in the right side of my head and my partner was shot in the leg.”
The partner was still in the police car when he was hit, Brown said.
Responding officers chased a suspect through alleys and took someone in custody in the 100 block of South Pulaski Road, about half a mile away, according to police at the scene. A gun was reportedly found nearby.
