Miami-Dade officer shot identified as 5-year-veteran Cesar Echaverry

Miami, FL – The Miami-Dade police detective who was shot in the head during a shootout with an armed robbery suspect late Monday night is not expected to survive.

According to a department-wide email issued on Tuesday afternoon, 29-year-old Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Detective Cesar Echaverry remains in “extremely critical condition,” the Miami Herald reported.

“Please keep the Echaverry family in your thoughts and prayers,” read the message, which was sent out by MDPD Director Alfredo Ramirez’s executive assistant, Annette McCully.

Kalamazoo police search for suspect who shot at officers

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Police are searching for a suspect who shot at officers Saturday night, according to investigators.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a robbery in the 2100 block South Burdick Street, police said.

Officers later located the suspect’s vehicle in the 4300 block of South Burdick Street, the suspect fled on foot and shot at officers, investigators said.

As of 10:30 p.m., police were actively searching for the suspect and asked the public to stay away from the the area.

Police did recover a weapon but the suspect is not in custody and was last seen on foot, according to KDPS.

No injuries were reported.

Deputy In ICU After Pushing Deputy Wife Out Of Path Of Truck Driven By Deputy From Another Agency

Campbell County, TN – An Anderson County sheriff’s deputy remains hospitalized in intensive care after he and his deputy wife were struck by a speeding pickup truck driven by a deputy from another county while they were trying to fix a motorcycle on the side of a residential roadway.

The driver behind the wheel of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado that struck the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies has been identified as Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Raymond Surber, who was also off-duty at the time of the horrific collision, WVLT reported.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Lucas Shoffner and his wife, ACSO Deputy Nicole Shoffner, were both off-duty the night of Aug. 1 when they stopped on Clover Circle to fix the chain that had slipped off of their miniature motorbike, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

Indiana Cop ‘Fighting For Her Life’ After Being Shot During Traffic Stop

RICHMOND — UPDATE @ 9:07 p.m. (Aug. 11): Richmond Police Officer Seara Burton, shot and wounded during a traffic stop Wednesday night, remains in critical condition and is “showing slight signs of responsiveness,” Richmond Police Chief Michael Britt said in an update posted to social media Thursday night.

Officer Burton has not regained consciousness following surgery, the chief said, noting the officer was shot in the head.
