HESTERFIELD — The Hermann police officer who survived a shooting last month will leave Mercy Hospital and fly to Colorado on Tuesday morning, according to the police department.

Officer Adam Sullentrup was shot in the head March 12 at a Casey’s convenience store in Hermann when he and Hermann police Detective Sgt. Mason Griffith tried to arrest a man for multiple warrants.

Griffith was also shot during the altercation and died.

In the days following the shooting, Sullentrup was in a medically induced coma and underwent multiple surgeries, including one to repair his spleen. Sullentrup was also shot in the side and broke a rib.

Hermann police on Monday announced “with great joy” that the officer would be leaving Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur around 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday and would be escorted by his family, friends and first responders to Spirit of St. Louis airport in Chesterfield. He’s headed to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado.

Police shoot, kill girl suspected in mail carrier robbery

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — A girl suspected of robbing a postal carrier at gunpoint was shot and killed by police in Colorado, after authorities say she pointed the gun at officers.

An officer was shot and wounded in the confrontation Monday, Lakewood police said in a statement. The injury wasn’t life-threatening.

The suspect’s name and age had not been released as of Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear how the officer was wounded. At a press conference, department spokesperson John Romero said the girl shot at police officers, who returned fire. However, the written statement issued later Monday only said the girl had pointed a gun at the officers. A handgun was found where the shooting took place, Romero said.

Romero did not immediately return phone and email messages seeking comment Tuesday.

The girl died after being taken to the hospital, the statement said. Another girl suspected of involvement in the Denver-area robbery was arrested in Frederick, Colorado, a small town about 35 miles away.

‘I’m shot, I’m shot’: Body-worn camera footage shows moment Cleveland police officer shot

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police released body camera video Thursday showing the moment an on-duty detective was shot earlier this month.

“I need somebody,” Det. Mark Bahrijczuk yelled into his police radio as he clutched his left arm, according to the video. “I’m shot, I’m shot.”

Bahrijczuk, who has been with the department for about four years, was shot twice at about 6:30 p.m. March 14 while investigating stolen Kia and Hyundai vehicles near E. 30th and Cedar Avenue, authorities said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old boy in connection with the shooting, police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

Cleveland.com does not name children who are charged as juveniles.

A police report dated March 24 that the department just provided to the public on Thursday said that Bahrijczuk sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot once in the thigh and once in the arm.

Huntsville police officer dies after being shot in the line of duty; 2nd remains hospitalized, suspect charged

One of two Alabama police officers shot when they responded to a shooting call at a Huntsville apartment complex has died.

“This is a devastating loss for our department, the Huntsville community and the State of Alabama, HPD Chief Kirk Giles said. “We send our heartfelt condolences to the officer’s family as they mourn their loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice.”

“As we grieve with our fallen officer’s family, we have another officer fighting for his life,’’ the chief said. “Please keep all our officers and the entire department in your prayers.”

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall identified the slain policeman as Officer Garrett Crumby. The wounded officer has been identified as Officer Albert Morin.

“Tonight, our State grieves the death of another member of the law enforcement community—one who, when called upon, ran toward danger in aide of a female victim,” said Marshall said. “Huntsville Police Officer Garrett Crumby and fellow Officer Albert Morin were responding to an emergency domestic violence call for service when they were ambushed by an armed suspect.”
