BREAKING: 3 Deputies Shot By Woman In Kansas
Cowley County, KS – Three sheriff’s deputies were shot by a woman during a suspicious vehicle stop in Cowley County on Friday.
The incident occurred about five miles north of Winfield, near U.S. Highway 77 and 122nd Road, according to KSHB.
Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti told reporters at the scene that the deputies were responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle.
Sheriff Falletti said that when the deputies made contact with the woman driving the suspect vehicle, she opened fire and a gun battle ensued.
The sheriff said three deputies were shot.
He said deputies had returned fire and the suspect was fatally shot.
One of the wounded heroes was airlifted to a hospital in Wichita for treatment, according to Sheriff Falletti.
A second wounded deputy was transported via ambulance, according to KSHB.
Officials have not released any information about the third wounded hero’s condition but the sheriff’s department said they had also been transported to the hospital.
