Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) says that they are searching for Samuel Quinton Edwards, 34. He is the suspect in a shooting that injured a Hendersonville Police officer Monday night during a pursuit.
The suspect abandoned his van on Gibson Drive in Madison and left on foot, according to MNPD. Police say he is armed with two guns.
MNPD says a white 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup truck has been stolen from near the gunman’s last known location. The truck has a TN license tag 88F-W55, per police.
Police say the truck has multiple dents, is missing the front grill and has front bumper damage.
MNPD says the officer is currently in non-critical condition. Public Information Officer Don Aaron said the officer is at Vanderbilt Hospital.
An Erin Police officer was shot on Monday night while making a traffic stop just after 9 p.m. Monday.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 149 near Substation Loop. The subject opened fire on the officer and fled the area on foot.
The TBI will be joining the investigation at the request of District Attorney General Ray Crouch.
Police said the suspect is a Black male and was wearing a white t-shirt and blue baseball cap.
Law enforcement officers from several surrounding counties are assisting in the search for the suspect.
