Kingman, AZ – Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Sergeant Leo Becenti died on March 9 after he was hit by a vehicle, according to police.
The 54-year-old sergeant was off-duty when he responded to a disturbance in the 1900-block of Dawes Avenue at approximately 10 p.m., KSAZ reported.
When he arrived at the scene, Sgt. Becenti got into a physical altercation with a man and ended up falling into the street, according to Kingman police.
He was then struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by a 54-year-old woman, The Miner reported.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid prior to transporting Sgt. Becenti to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Anchorage, AK – An Anchorage police officer was shot multiple times while trying to apprehend a barricaded suspect early Friday morning, according to police.
Philadelphia, PA – Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Trooper Martin Mack and Trooper Branden Sisca died in the line of duty Monday morning when they were hit by a speeding motorist while trying to get a pedestrian off of the interstate.
The incident began on Interstate 95 southbound at approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 21, when the Trooper Mack, 33, and Trooper Sisca, 29, stopped a female driver on suspicion of DUI, WCAU reported.
During the traffic stop, the troopers were notified that a man was walking on the roadway and they were forced to leave the stop in order to locate the pedestrian, law enforcement sources said.
The troopers located the pedestrian and were trying to get him into their patrol vehicle when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into all three of them, according to police.
The force of the impact threw the troopers and the pedestrian into the northbound lanes of the interstate.
Witnesses rushed to the injured troopers and attempted CPR, but all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) Traffic Division Officer Mike Staten told reporters.

The incident occurred at about 5:50 p.m. on March 2 when an officer responded to a report of a disturbance in the 2300-block of South Kate Avenue, KOCO reported.
Chicago, IL – A Chicago police officer who fatally shot an armed suspect during a foot pursuit in 2021 will not face criminal charges, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced on Tuesday.
Foxx said an outside agency investigated the incident and that she subsequently determined there was insufficient evidence to charge Chicago Police Officer Evan Solano in connection with the March 31, 2021 shooting death of 22-year-old Anthony Alvarez, FOX News reported.
“This is a somber announcement,” Foxx said of her decision. “There are no winners in this situation.”
