Yonkers, NY – A Yonkers police officer assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Safe Street Task Force was shot on Wednesday afternoon.

Police shooting: Yonkers detective in critical condition, suspect killed

The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on April 20 near the intersection of Elm and Linden Streets, WNBC reported.

Law enforcement sources told WNBC there may have been as many as four suspects and that at least one opened fire on law enforcement officers.

Sources said the wounded Yonkers police officer and at least one FBI agent returned fire.

A spokesperson for Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano confirmed that an officer had been shot and was being transported to the hospital.

Yonkers police said in a tweet that the suspect had also been taken to the hospital, WNBC reported.
Officials have not released any information about the medical condition of the wounded hero.

Suspect Wanted For Shooting Phoenix Cop Arrested After Standoff In Scottsdale

Scottsdale, AZ – The suspect accused of shooting a Phoenix police officer was arrested Sunday night following a standoff at a Scottsdale residence, according to police.

Police negotiated with Cowan for several hours before he ultimately surrendered at approximately 7:45 p.m., according to KTVK.

He was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound that investigators believed he received during a shootout with Phoenix Police Department (PPD) officers on April 14, KTVK reported.

Earlier, when the officers began approaching him, Cowan allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on them from inside his vehicle, hitting a female officer, according to police.
