
Federal Way, WA – A Federal Way police officer was ambushed while he was stopped at a stoplight in a marked patrol vehicle on Sept. 3.
The incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 3 when the officer stopped his police SUV at the traffic light at Pacific Highway South near South 330th Street, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
Federal Way Police Commander Kurt Schwan said a silver sedan pulled up alongside the officer’s vehicle at the light.
Commander Schwann said someone in the other vehicle opened fire on the police SUV, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
The commander said multiple rounds struck the patrol vehicle but the officer wasn’t hit.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and officers pursued it, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
However, the silver sedan managed to evade police and escape, according to police.
