Harrisburg, PA – Six Pennsylvania state troopers were nearly run down by a suspect outside the Scottish Rite Cathedral fraternal organization on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The incident occurred on 3rd Street as the six troopers were walking in the crosswalk towards the building for a promotional exam shortly after 3 p.m., WPMT reported.
The suspect, later identified as 45-yearold Kimani Crummel, was traveling southbound in his 2002 Ford Escape when he spotted the troopers heading into the building, the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) told WHTM.
Police said Crummel momentarily brought the SUV to a stop before stomping on the gas and accelerating towards the group at a high rate of speed.
The suspect drove off the roadway and onto the grass while attempting to run over the troopers, but they managed to dive out of the way and avoided being hit, according to the Associated Press.
The troopers were all wearing business attire and were not in uniform at the time of the attack.
Crummel was arrested shortly after the incident, WHTM reported.
According to court records, Crummel allegedly told investigators he drank alcohol, smoked marijuana, and took medication prior to getting behind the wheel that afternoon, according to The Morning Call.
He also allegedly asked who his six intended targets were, police said.
“When the trooper advised who they were, the defendant stated he thought they were Harrisburg city officials,” court records said.

Volusia County, FL – An armed suspect shot two Volusia sheriff’s K9s in two separate attacks early Saturday morning, according to investigators.
As K9 Ax closed in on the suspect, gunshots rang out.
Deputy Davis pulled K9 Ax back and rushed him towards their patrol unit, where he quickly realized his partner had been shot, the video showed.
“S—t – he’s shot in the face!” Deputy Davis alerted as he loaded up the wounded K9 and rushed him to Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia in Ormond Beach.
“You’re alright, buddy,” he told K9 Ax repeatedly. “We’re gonna get that bad man. You did good boy.”
Deputy Davis’ right hand was covered in his partner’s blood by the time he arrived at the veterinary hospital.
Singleton emerged from the tree line at approximately 2:20 a.m. and exchanged gunfire with deputies, according to the VSO.
The suspect was hit during the shootout, as was VSO K9 Endo.
K9 Endo, who was previously awarded the VSO Medal of Valor and Purple heart after being shot in the neck during a domestic violence call in 2015, suffered gunshot wounds to his chin and paw on Saturday.

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. (KABC) — A sheriff’s department in Florida has released dramatic video of a traffic stop that turned into a deadly shootout with a man described as a “violent career criminal.”
The incident started as what seemed like a routine traffic stop of a car that had three adults and a two-month-old infant inside.
As deputies are making small talk with two of the passengers, they ask a third to exit the vehicle. He suddenly jumps out of the back seat with a rifle and opens fire repeatedly, as they scramble for cover and attempt to return fire. One deputy was shot in the leg.
As they duck down, they don’t see the gunman run around behind their patrol vehicle and sneak up on them.
His weapon had apparently jammed, so he used the butt of the rifle to bash one deputy in the skull repeatedly. The other deputy quickly changes his clip and jumps in to assist, opening fire repeatedly at close range and killing the assailant.
The incident involving Brevard County sheriff’s deputies happened Aug. 30 in West Melbourne, Fla.
Investigators say more than 61 bullets were fired in less than a minute.
The suspect was dead at the scene. He was later identified as Paris Wilder, 38, of Cocoa, Fla.
The sheriff’s department describes Wilder as a “career offender” whose record includes 40 arrests for charges that included armed robbery, aggravated assault, drug offenses, battery of a law enforcement officer and attempted first degree felony murder. He was out on bond for two felony drug charges and had two active felony warrants at the time of the shootout with deputies.
“I’m just extremely thankful that our deputies are safe and the suspect is no longer on this planet where he could put someone else’s life in peril,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
He said he was disturbed that after so many arrests in the past, Wilder was still out on the streets. He said he will find out why.
It seemed clear that he attacked the deputies because he was wanted on outstanding warrants and did not want to return to jail, Ivey said.
“Let there be no doubt: This individual got exactly what he deserved,” Ivey said.

Federal Way, WA – A Federal Way police officer was ambushed while he was stopped at a stoplight in a marked patrol vehicle on Sept. 3.
The incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 3 when the officer stopped his police SUV at the traffic light at Pacific Highway South near South 330th Street, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
Federal Way Police Commander Kurt Schwan said a silver sedan pulled up alongside the officer’s vehicle at the light.
Commander Schwann said someone in the other vehicle opened fire on the police SUV, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
The commander said multiple rounds struck the patrol vehicle but the officer wasn’t hit.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and officers pursued it, the Federal Way Mirror reported.
However, the silver sedan managed to evade police and escape, according to police.
